Four

Four more nights away from home.... I'm having fun but really miss my sweet hubby and sneaky kitty. The tyre has been replaced. I'm crossing my fingers that we don't have to pay for it. Tomorrow brings....Shakespeare and a midsummer night's dream. It should be fun!

I just drank half a bottle of champagne....

And so did my travel buddy. We were celebrating. What were we celebrating? Katie and Nigel. Who are Katie and Nigel? They are the two lovely people who stopped when I waved them down on the side of a narrow, winding road, to help us change a flat tyre. We rented a car today. It is NOT a compact car, like I reserved. I scratched the door handle on a rock and apparently blew out a tyre, too. This whole driving on the wrong side of the road thing is for the bids. Only six more days of it to go. Prayers would be great. We'll be trying to figure out where the heck to get the tyre repaired tomorrow. So much for sightseeing. Again, prayers would be nice. Having fewer incidents the rest of this trip would be nice, too.

Just to let you know....

Scotland is amazing. Even more magical than I remembered. And i've got almost two more weeks here! Sweet hubby is still holding down the fort, and I miss him like crazy. This trip is, so far, absolutely fantastic.

annual beach vacation, in review

Oh, what fun! Boat rides and swimming and playing in the sand, reading and dancing and baking cakes, kayaking and making ice cream and shrimp and grits.... Oh, what fun! Five years of summer vacations.... I think this group should stick together!

Update...

New alarm panel, installed. Sweet hubby back at the beach. Friends have arrived. Great day playing in the sand and surf yesterday. God is good.

While i'm waiting

I thought i'd let you know that the alarm company called my cell phone tonight, around 9:30 pm. I missed the call. Sweet hubby missed the call to his cell phone, too, but my daddy didn't miss his call. My daddy headed over to my house, freshly armed with the alarm code, and the key he normally has on hand. He called back frantic, because the alarm panel didn't have an "off" button like i'd said it would. I asked him if he was looking at the panel by the closet, or the old one. He said, "There's not a panel by the closet." I said, "between the bulletin board and the closet. Don't you see the new panel?" "No. Oh, here it is, on the floor." Ummmmmmm..... Not what I wanted to hear. He made his way into the living room and asked if we had a tv on the dresser between the bookshelves. Ummmmmm, yes. Well, it's not there anymore. Dad, where is Rayen? Go in the bathroom and find her treats, see if she will come get one...

This weekend...

Two of my best friends from college are bringing their families to the beach! I am so excited to see them. We used to dancetogether in college. We really didn't know each other until we were grouped together in an improv class....working on a contact project....and all of a sudden the three of us literally put our heads together. It was.....interesting. Improv was never my favorite thing. I love watching other people do it, but I hated to be watched while I did. That was freshman year. Our friendships grew and grew over the next four years. Christi and I were always stuck together at the barre (arranged by body types, thanks Ms. Joan and Ms. Janet!) and Nicole and Christi lived in the same building. I went on a date with the guy Nicole ended up dating for most of college. We went to Florida for spring break one time and went to concerts in Atlanta. We talked and laughed and ate and danced and laughed some more. Christi and Nicole became roommates and Nicole changed her major...
